“Today, on this day of remembrance, we stop and take pause to remember those police and peace officers who have died while serving their fellow Albertans.
“Every person who steps into the line of duty takes on daunting responsibilities, makes tremendous sacrifices, and faces great danger.
“Today, we add the name of Sergeant Andrew Glenn Harnett of the Calgary Police Service to the Pillar of Strength. He joins 100 fallen officers who laid down their lives while keeping their fellow Albertans safe.
“We owe Sergeant Harnett and all those who died serving and protecting a debt of gratitude for their selfless commitment to public safety and the rule of law.
“To the families and friends of the fallen, including the Harnett family, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.”
