“Happy Father's Day to all the hard-working dads in our province who are always there for their families, in good times and bad.

“Sometimes it can be easy to forget the contributions that fathers make. Their guidance is often silent as they set quiet examples of lives well lived. Yet their positive influence speaks volumes.

“That has become even more so during the COVID-19 pandemic. With more dads working from home, they have become more involved in the day-to-day routine of their families, from child care and household chores to assisting children who are attending school online. Research has identified a huge surge in the number of hours fathers are spending with their children, much to the delight of kids, dads and moms alike.

“And it’s not just fathers. Stepdads, grandpas, mentors and other male role models all step up to make a difference in the lives of generations who come after them.

“I encourage all Albertans to pay tribute to the men who fill this important role and to honour those who are no longer with us.”
