“April 2 is World Autism Day – an opportunity to recognize and celebrate those living with autism, as well as their families, loved ones and caregivers.

“Today, one in 66 children born in Canada will be diagnosed on the autism spectrum. It’s incredibly important that we continue to work together to learn more about autism and provide the best possible supports and services to help children and adults on the autism spectrum thrive and reach their highest potential.

“People living with autism are part of the unique and diverse fabric of this province and they contribute greatly to our families, workplaces and communities. We celebrate their achievements today and every day.

“On World Autism Day and throughout the month, we also thank the many individuals and organizations who, along with Alberta’s government, work to provide supports, raise awareness and help create opportunities for people living with autism.”
