Notably, the Premier and three staff used a rented RV for accommodation in lieu of hotels.
Premier Kenney travelled from Calgary to Waterton to Fort Macleod, Lethbridge, Foremost, Medicine Hat, Elkwater, Taber, Brooks, Drumheller and Oyen, before returning to Calgary.
Each day involved meetings with Albertans, area elected officials, tours of businesses and industry or farms, as well as media interviews. In total, there were 24 stops or appointments along the way.
The RV - which cost $1,500 - accounted for more than half of the tab. Fuel costs were $268. The premier’s personal expense claim was $103.
Expenses for technical support staff from Communications and Public Engagement, who facilitated events and media access, totalled $6,737.
Over the five days on the road, the Premier engaged in discussions with Albertans about the impacts of COVID-19, Alberta’s Recovery Plan and economic diversification, and announced major investments in job-creating projects including the twinning of 46 kilometres of Highway 3 at an estimated cost of $150 million and $27.8 million for the agri-food hub at Exhibition Park in Lethbridge.
