“Police and Peace Officer’s Memorial Day is a solemn reminder for Albertans to pay tribute to Alberta’s law enforcement officers, who gave their lives in the line of duty. Albertans do not take the safety that our law enforcement provides for granted. The safety we Albertans enjoy every day comes at a cost, through the sacrifice made by the men, women, and families of law enforcement.
“And while we are not able to gather as a group this year at the Pillar of Strength, I encourage everyone who visits the legislature grounds, at any time of the year, to pause at this memorial and to observe a moment of silence in honour of our province’s peace and police officers, both past and present.
“On behalf of all Albertans, I offer my deepest respect and thanks to our province’s law enforcement officers, and to their families and loved ones for their excellent service and selfless sacrifice.”
