“I am fortunate to have met many individuals in recovery from addiction and I am continually amazed by their dedication to personal health and mental wellness and, in many cases, the stories of reconnection with their family.

“There are many brave Albertans who have acknowledged their dependencies, moved on towards treatment, and now proudly announce that they are in recovery.

“These experiences constantly renew my continued passion and persistence in ensuring Albertans have access to a world-class, publicly funded continuum of care, spanning prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery.

“We see time and time again that recovery is real, recovery is attainable, and recovery is possible. This month is to celebrate those who seek to achieve this goal, and those who have achieved it.

“Alberta’s government continues to lead the way on mental health and addictions in Canada. During Recovery Month, we encourage all Albertans to speak openly and honestly about their stories of recovery.”
