“Heritage Day is a great opportunity to learn more about those who have gone before us to build Alberta, bequeathing to us one of the freest and most prosperous societies on the face of the earth.
“From the First Nations who created the first communities in this often inhospitable environment, to the pioneers who plowed virgin soil, to the waves of newcomers who overcame adversity to build Alberta, we should be grateful for their sacrifice and vision.
“During this year of great challenge, we need the inspiration of their example more than ever.
“I hope that in this pandemic ‘staycation’ summer, Albertans will learn more about our shared history by visiting some of our province’s inspiring historic sites!”
