At about 10:55 p.m. on March 15, EPS officers arrested a 37-year-old male on an outstanding warrant. The man was arrested without incident and transported into custody at the EPS DMU. Officers entered the man’s cell on the afternoon of March 16, and found him unresponsive. The on-duty paramedic provided immediate emergency medical care, including CPR and the administration of naloxone. 911 was also called. At about 2:22 p.m., the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

As ASIRT’s investigation is now underway, no further information will be released until the matter is concluded.
