“Free trade is vital to Alberta’s economy, and I am pleased to see that the federal government has concluded negotiations with the United States and Mexico on a new agreement.
“Our trading relationship with the United States, our largest trading partner, is absolutely vital to our prosperity and I am pleased to see that the U.S. Congress has stated a wish to pass the deal before Christmas. I urge the federal government to ratify it as quickly as possible.
“Premier Kenney has visited both the United States and Mexico in recent weeks, and I myself undertook a trade mission to some of our largest U.S. trading partners. Collectively, we export more than $100 billion to the United States and Mexico.
“While the agreement has yet to be ratified in the federal legislatures of the three nations, this is an encouraging development in the process of modernizing NAFTA. I look forward to seeing CUSMA being implemented.”
