“In synagogues across our province, Albertans of the Jewish faith are gathering to fast and repent on this holiest day of the year, Yom Kippur.

“Through the ages, the intent of the Day of Atonement has remained unchanged. It is a solemn time devoted to prayer and personal introspection. It offers the opportunity to begin anew by reconciling wrongdoing and seeking out forgiveness.

“Openness and the willingness to change – for the better – is a lesson for all of us. It’s a message we must all take to heart, no matter what our faith or heritage.

“Gmar hatimah tovah to all our Jewish communities.”
