Dealing with cancer is a challenge that is immensely daunting even in the best of circumstances. To have to deal with that challenge in isolation is almost unimaginable and something that the Wellspring Calgary peer support team was not going to let happen.
Within days of the pandemic-forced closure of the Wellspring Calgary offices, the peer support volunteers assembled, organized and began making calls, bringing the Wellspring community to members quarantined for their own safety. The 12-member team committed themselves to bringing comfort, support, understanding and joy to those most vulnerable to the risks of COVID. In doing so, they have demonstrated how even the most daunting challenges are surmountable when you have a dozen volunteers with a wealth of compassion in your corner.
To Janice, Roy, Moira, Nancy, Hillary, Gary, Heather, Laurel, Marilyn, Sara, Alma and Pattie – thank you for your countless hours of inspiring service and for hearts filled with love to share so generously with others.
