COVID-19 Updates: Taking steps to return to normal.
On April 29, he was recognized for providing food and free online activity-training sessions to kids in need.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
In normal times, Free Footie YEG provides access to barrier-free sport for about 4,000 kids in need. COVID-19 created new challenges; with social distancing measures in place and classes moving online, new opportunities for Free Footie kids needed to be created.
The organization made two quick pivots – it started offering free daily online training sessions through Facebook Live to keep kids active and engaged, and it worked quickly to fill the food gap created by school closures. With the generous support of donors and volunteers, the organization is offering a weekly Free Food Program to families in need in Edmonton.
Honour the contributions of an amazing individual or group.
