COVID-19 Updates: Taking steps to return to normal.
On July 30, she was recognized for preparing care baskets and delivering them to those in need in her community.
Location: Chestermere, Alberta
When her holiday plans were cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, Tania, a WestJet travel agent in Calgary, wanted to use her time to help others. Over the past three months, she has made over 20 care baskets for homes in her community. She fills them not just with food but also with personal care products like shampoo and clippers.
Tania lost her mother to cancer when she was 20 years old, and she wishes to live out her mother’s legacy of helping anyone in need, especially those who have recently been diagnosed with an illness or have had surgery. She also enjoys cooking and baking for others and loves to share her grandmother’s pasta sauce. Tania also delivered yeast, which was in short supply during the pandemic, to over 27 homes.
Tania’s nominator writes that her huge heart and amazing spirit reminds “everyone that brighter days are ahead.” Through her acts of kindness and generosity, she is an inspiration to the community, especially during this difficult time.
Honour the contributions of an amazing individual or group.
