While some students handled their new remote learning environments well, others faced some struggles. A group of quick-thinking high school students came up with a way to help. They established Moving Minds YYC, a free online tutoring service for students from elementary, junior and high schools.
The creators of the program understand how stressful this time can be for students. Moving Minds YYC provides free one-on-one or group tutoring sessions in Zoom video conferences, to support Alberta course work from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in all subjects. Students can sign up for a one-hour session each week per subject and for tutoring in up to two subjects.
Moving Minds is currently tutoring 34 students, including two students from the United States and one from Peru, and has 25 volunteers offering tutoring support.
