On July 9, she was recognized for sending over 300 hand-made cards and coffee gift cards to nurses, hospital staff and first responders.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many healthcare and emergency service employees are working long, tireless hours to keep us safe during this crisis. Edmonton’s Joanne Mykitiuk wanted to give back and show her support to those on the frontline.
Joanne started hand-making cards that include a $5 gift card to Tim Hortons to “send a cup of love". She then turned to Facebook to share what she was doing and ask if anyone else would be willing and able to donate to her project, so that she could send out even more cards and gift cards.
The response was overwhelming. Community members have donated over $1,000 to help Joanne send 300 cards to nurses, hospital staff and first responders. Her #sendacupoflove project shows appreciation for frontline workers in a time when it’s most needed.
Honour the contributions of an amazing individual or group.
