On December 14, she was recognized for leading various initiatives to help people cope during COVID-19.
Location: Bashaw, Alberta
Bashaw resident Jackie Northey has been leading a variety of initiatives in her community to help people cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has created a website to keep people up to date with the latest information on the pandemic, and she answers phone calls and texts from community members to help navigate this information.
Jackie has also organized community challenges, such as a lip sync battle and a snowman building competition, to help entertain people. She also volunteers, giving out food hampers to those in need and organizing a delivery service for seniors in Bashaw.
According to her nominator, “It’s individuals like Jackie who are so outrageously unstoppable that make Bashaw the community everyone wants to live in.”
