The Alberta Ghostbusters is a group of volunteers, prop builders, collectors and fans who raise money for children’s hospitals through cosplay events (where participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character). The money they raise supports the essential work of the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton and the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary.
Although the group is currently unable to hold cosplay fundraising events, the Ghostbusters are still working to make a difference in their communities! Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, their members have rallied other cosplay groups, and they have been manufacturing supplies for frontline workers. Members have been sewing scrub caps and 3D-printing ear savers. The supplies are free to anyone who needs them, and members of the Alberta Ghostbusters have delivered supplies to health care workers and staff at grocery stores and veterinary clinics.
