Earlier that day, at approximately 6 p.m., EPS members observed a robbery in progress involving two male youths, one of whom was armed with what appeared to be a firearm. The officers requested additional resources and the area was contained, with the youth observed to have entered a nearby residence.

At approximately 7 p.m., the youth emerged from the residence and a confrontation occurred with EPS members. During this incident, one EPS member discharged a round from an ARWEN less-lethal device, and a second member discharged a single round from his carbine. The youth sustained an injury to his lower body and was taken into custody with the assistance of additional EPS members. A replica firearm was recovered from the scene of the incident.
