We share a commitment to defending taxpayers, getting our natural resources to global markets by building pipelines and economic corridors, and to free trade within Canada. I look forward to sharing some Stampede hospitality with these important Canadian leaders in the lead up to this week’s Council of the Federation meeting in Saskatoon.”
The Premiers will discuss actions that can be taken individually and collectively to create good jobs, support responsible resource development, get Canadian energy to global markets, create economic corridors, reduce barriers to interprovincial trade and labour mobility, and other important economic issues.
The meeting will establish common ground for this week’s Council of the Federation meeting to be held in Saskatoon from July 9-11, and builds on discussions from the Western Premiers’ Conference held in Edmonton in June, as well as meetings Premier Kenney has had with counterparts across the country over the past two months.
Premiers will meet over dinner on Sunday, July 7. They will be officially welcomed by the Calgary Stampede at a traditional white hat ceremony during the Premier’s pancake breakfast at McDougall Centre on Monday, July 8. Formal meetings will follow, and visiting Premiers will then have a chance to experience the Calgary Stampede rodeo before travelling to Saskatoon.
