COVID-19 Updates: Taking steps to return to normal.
Tourism industry partners had the opportunity to provide input into Alberta’s new tourism strategy development.
The 10-Year Tourism Strategy will support the development and sustainability of the province’s tourism industry and lay the foundation to help grow tourism revenue to $20 billion by 2030.
Stakeholder engagement workshops for the development of the new 10-Year Tourism Strategy were hosted in Calgary and Edmonton from January 13 to 16, 2020. Over 400 industry partners attended the sessions and provided valuable input and feedback to support the creation of a long-term destination development and management strategy for Alberta.
Tourism stakeholders also had an opportunity to participate in a stakeholder engagement survey, with over 600 people taking the survey.
At the Travel Alberta Industry Conference in October 2019, the public engagement started with industry. At the conference, 8 themes were identified:
