Introduction
The non-profit and voluntary sector touches almost all aspects of community life in Alberta. The sector consists of over 26,000 charities and non-profit organizations.
Almost 300,000 Albertans are employed in the sector, and 1.9 million Albertans volunteer across cultural sectors. The non-profit and voluntary sector contributes almost $5.5 billion in gross domestic product to the Alberta economy.
