Why is Alberta Involved?
The Vancouver 2010 Winter Games opened the door to amazing opportunities for Alberta. Creating a strong international profile for our province around the Games was a strategic investment in our future as leaders in business, in tourism, sport and the arts.More than $100 million has been invested in upgrades to our Olympic legacy facilities, maintaining our reputation as a leading training and competition destination in North America. Facilities that hosted seven World Cup events in 2009-10 attracting 150 million television viewers world wide, and allowed the 100 members of Canada's 2010 Team who were born, raised or trained in our province to achieve their dreams.
2010 was Canada's Games, and $7 million was invested to create opportunities and incentives for Alberta’s industry to develop new business relationships that will position our province take advantage of recovery in the global economy – benefiting Alberta beyond 2010.
Alberta's Way Forward Plan
The Way Forward is the Government of Alberta’s plan for a strong recovery from the global recession. Growing Alberta’s economy is a key pillar of the plan – ensuring our industries are competitive and attracting investments that support future prosperity and long-term quality of life.
