“ Believe that you can do it, even if others disagree.”

Every day, I get up early, eat a good breakfast and then head out for a two-hour workout session. After that, I go home to have lunch and take a nap. I usually work out for two hours in the afternoon, have dinner, relax and go to bed early enough to get lots of sleep.

I watched the ’88 Winter Olympics when I was young, and it was so inspiring to me. It’s amazing living in Canmore and having the opportunity to utilize the amazing facilities left behind from the legacy of those Games.

My proudest sporting moment to date was winning the 10-kilometre classic event at the 2009 National Championships in Whistler. The course suits me very well, and I can’t wait for the 2010 Olympics.

I’ve learned so much about leadership from my teammates. It’s great to have more experienced athletes to look up to and learn from. What I learn from them and what experience on my own, I’m able to pass onto younger athletes.

What I like to tell young people who want to become elite athletes is, believe that you can do it even if others around you disagree. Hard work will eventually pay off.

My hero is Pierre Harvey. He inspired me when I was young, and he was the first Canadian to win a medal in our sport at the World Cup.
