Alberta's Involvement in the Games


The global spotlight shines on Vancouver, but the glow reaches across our country. Alberta is capitalizing on opportunities to invest in our future, while celebrating excellence in sport, culture and the arts.

Education Programs

The International Olympic Committee believes that by “blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example, and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.”

This philosophy makes the Olympics a learning experience as much as a sport experience. Plus, worldwide interest in the Games piques interest, especially in children and youth.
