Heroes & Stars

The spirit of Alberta shines through our people; people who inspire each other to realize possibilities and every-day people who become our heroes and stars.

Business Profile: COLD-fX

Edmonton’s CV Technologies will help keep athletes, officials, spectators at the top of the 2010 Games as the official supplier of cold and flu remedies. The company’s COLD-fX will be available at general stores within the Olympic and Paralympic Villages during the Games.

COLD-fX is a great Alberta success story. This all-natural product tackles two illnesses that have puzzled medical science for centuries: the flu and the common cold.

Made from a patented formula using highly purified American ginseng, COLD-fX boosts the immune system. In test after test, it has been shown to safely and effectively reduce the frequency, severity and duration of cold and flu symptoms.

COLD-fX was developed by a team of scientists led by Dr. Jackie Shan at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Eventually the team grew to include experts from around the world, who focused on ways to apply the rigor and standards of Western science to natural medicines of the East.

A recent survey found COLD-fX to be the favourite natural, over-the-counter (OTC) cold remedy for English-speaking pharmacists in Canada with 73 per cent recommending it to their customers as their first choice.

An official supplier of the 2010 and 2010 Canadian Olympic teams, COLD-fX has also built a strong following among professional athletes and sports figures. Hockey Night in Canada’s Don Cherry, Olympic speed skater and cyclist Clara Hughes and the Dundee United Football Club in the Scottish Premier League, all endorse it. Trainers, therapists and players with the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club also use COLD-fX to reduce the draining effects of travel and fatigue.

COLD-fX is another great example of Albertans’ ingenuity and spirit to achieve great things. Tune into the 2010 Games to see how this product is helping Canadian athletes perform at the top of their game and realize their Olympic dreams.
