Born to bilingual parents from Saskatchewan, Ariane Mahrÿke Lemire started writing at an early age. With the help of her father, classical guitarist Lyall Steel, she eventually put her words to music and started writing songs on a regular basis.

She has since played on stages across western Canada, Québec, France and Ireland. After receiving the Rawlco Magic 99 recording grant, she recorded her first album, Double Entendre, with co-producer and bassist Mike Lent. The album, which won a Western Canadian Music Awar, includes both a French disc and an English disc of original songs. The album features some of Edmonton’s most interesting players such as Bob Tildesley on trumpet, Lyle Molzan on drums, Moe Lefever, Mike Sterling and Jim Head on guitar, and Mike Lent on bass. Whether accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Cam Boyce, doing a solo performance, or backed by a full band, she manages to entertain crowds with theatrical deliveries of her story-like songs which blend folk, jazz, blues, and improvisation.

"Whether she's singing in English or in French, language is never a barrier. Ariane mesmerizes listeners with her sultry, soulful lyrics, bewitching charm and unabashed playfulness.
Her newest release is a musical adventure that takes you on an unparallel journey into the ultra creative soul of this uniquely captivating songwriter."
