In a ceremony held at Government House, individuals and groups received awards in four prevention categories: family violence, sexual assault, child abuse and bullying.
Award Highlights
- Susan Scott, Calgary, Lifetime Achievement Award, for shedding light on family violence and its connection to homelessness for women in Canada.
- Len Rhodes, President and CEO of the Edmonton Eskimos, Business Leader in Family Violence Prevention.
- Mayor Rob Mackin accepts the 30th Anniversary Award on behalf of the town of Hinton for starting Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta.
“Family violence has no place in our society. All of this year’s award recipients are dedicated to preventing violence and supporting survivors and those who love them. They set an extraordinary example for others to take action and be part of the solution. Our government is proud to honour these outstanding individuals and organizations.”
