His Honour, Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, presented the 2013 Queen’s Golden Jubilee Citizenship Medal to seven young Albertans.
The medal, which recognizes recipients’ volunteerism and leadership in their communities and schools, was awarded at Government House in Edmonton.
“The recipients of this medal are great examples of what it means to be an engaged citizen. They have stepped forward as leaders and mentors, applying the best of their abilities to the goal of fostering positive change in their schools, their communities and our province. I thank them for their inspiring service and wish them continued success.”
“These young people have an eye on the future. They already know it depends not only on how well they build their own skills and qualifications, but on a solid commitment to building a better Alberta. Congratulations to all of them.”
Those who received medals at the May 9 ceremony are:

- Kendal David from Calgary
- Trina Gartke from Edmonton
- Ryan Hofer from Calgary
- Julie Le from Calgary
- Mumtahin Monzoor from Edmonton
