This release was issued under a previous government.
From October 11-21, Energy Minister Ken Hughes will participate in forums and meetings with government officials and business executives from Canada and Asia to promote Alberta’s energy resources and energy sector opportunities.
“Partnerships are key to getting things done in the energy sector. Looking beyond our borders is essential to our Building Alberta Plan. That means ongoing dialogue with other countries about mutual benefits. The potential for growing partnerships with Asia increases our ability for increased energy exports, creates additional investment in Alberta, and gives us an opportunity to work together on common challenges.”
Minister Hughes will represent Alberta at a number of events including the World Energy Congress in Daegu, South Korea; the Canada-Korea Dialogue on Energy in Seoul, South Korea; and the Calgary-China Investment Summit in Beijing. He will also meet with the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry to discuss future Alberta-Japan energy cooperation.
The total estimated cost for the mission including airfare, transportation and accommodation for the Minister and one staff member is $23,000.
Our government was elected to keep building Alberta, to live within its means and to fight to open new markets for Alberta’s resources. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
