This release was issued under a previous government.

“The work of the Red Cross and other non-profit organizations has greatly helped our province during the recovery from the flood. With the temperature dropping, we need to act now to make sure flood-affected families have a warm place to stay this winter.”

- Rick Fraser, Associate Minister of Regional Recovery and Reconstruction for High River

“The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to be working with the Government of Alberta to meet the urgent needs of flood-affected residents through the provision of hot water tanks and furnaces.”

- Sue Phillips, Director General Western Canada for Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross will purchase and install furnaces and hot water tanks into the primary residences of flood-affected Albertans, starting October 7. Residents will have the option of obtaining an advance through the Disaster Recovery Program or working with the Red Cross to secure this important service.

Albertans interested in this program should contact the Alberta government’s toll-free flood information line at 310-4455, and watch for program details to be posted online at redcross.ca.

Our government was elected to keep building Alberta, to live within its means and to fight to open new markets for Alberta’s resources. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
