Medical Examiner seeks public's help to identify man

Calgary...
Alberta’s Chief Medical Examiner has released a photograph of an unidentified male whose body was found on August 4 seeking the public’s help to identify him.

“We are releasing this information in the hope that someone will recognize this individual and be able to provide information about who he is,” said Dr. Sam Andrews, Assistant Chief Medical Examiner.

The body of the adult male was found naked on the southside bank of the Bow River near Zoo Island, which is approximately 200 metres from Memorial Drive. No clothing was found at the scene. This man is estimated to be in his 50s to early 60s, is five foot seven inches (175 centimetres) in height, and weighs 189 pounds (86 kilograms). He has light brown curly short hair with graying temples and no identifiable tattoos or scars. There are no visible signs of injury.

No person matching his description has been reported missing to the Calgary Police Service Missing Persons Unit.

“So far, we have been unable to identify this man through regular means. The next step is asking the media to help get this information to Albertans,” said Ron Stevens, Minister of Justice and Attorney General. “The media provides a really valuable public service in cases like this.”

Anyone with information that might assist with the identification of the gentleman is encouraged to call the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary at 403-297-8123.
