As part of the Alberta Jobs Plan, the Alberta government is providing CED with $2 million over two years to support its ongoing efforts to enhance and implement regional headquarters and investment attraction strategies.
“For both domestic and international companies our message is simple: Alberta is the best place to do business. Calgary is home to the highest concentration of international headquarters in Canada. It also has the country’s youngest, most skilled workforce. Working together to build on those strengths helps create and maintain jobs, while continuing to diversify our economy.”
To support efforts to boost the presence of regional, national and international headquarters in Calgary, CED will also receive $1 million in additional funding from Western Economic Diversification Canada.

“We’ve implemented a headquarters’ attraction strategy to leverage Calgary’s strengths as a centre for corporate head offices in Canada but there is incredible value in coordinating our efforts with the Government of Alberta, Western Economic Diversification Canada and other cities with a strategic, aligned and sustained effort to maximize our resources in markets outside the province.”
The Government of Alberta’s $2 million in funding is part of a larger $5 million investment over two years to attract major new business investment or company headquarters to Alberta announced in Budget 2016. Details on the remaining funding will be announced in the near future.
