This year’s Council of State Governors (CSG) West Westrends conference focuses on “The Future of Energy in the West,” including the region’s diverse energy resources and opportunities for economic sustainability. Cortes-Vargas will participate in this session and discuss Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan.

“Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan creates a platform for economic diversification, job growth and a sustainable energy industry that’s gotten attention on both sides of the border, including from President Obama. Working together with our regional neighbours, we can gain market access for our goods and services and attract vital investment to grow our economy in a sustainable and clean manner.”

Estefania Cortes-Vargas, MLA Strathcona-Sherwood Park

CSG West is a regional forum bringing together legislators and government leaders from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, the Pacific islands of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam. Alberta and British Columbia are Associate Members.

The estimated cost for Cortes-Vargas’ trip to Coeur d’Alene, including travel, is $8,000.
