“One of Alberta’s most popular summer festivals is set to begin and, as Minister of Culture and Tourism, I want to welcome everyone to K-Days 2016, July 22-31, at Edmonton Northlands.
“K-Days is a tradition for Albertans and visitors from across Canada and beyond. The famed K-Days Parade kicks off 10 action-packed days of family fun activities, top-flight entertainment and one of Canada’s largest midways.
“With a history dating back to 1879, K-Days also acknowledges the richness of Alberta’s heritage and history. This year, the festival pays tribute to the Indigenous people of Alberta. Edmonton Northlands has partnered with the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation to include a traditional powwow during K-Days, offering visitors a chance to learn, experience and share in the culture and time-honoured customs of the Treaty 6 First Nations.
“That much fun can’t be contained in one place, so all of Edmonton is getting into the act with numerous community events throughout the city. Bring your own blanket to the ‘It Takes a Village’ family picnic, discover that there’s more to sidewalk chalk than hopscotch at ‘Chalk it Up’ chalk art exhibition and sample gourmet treats during a Taste of Edmonton. This is a celebration meant to be shared.
