This release was issued under a previous government.

The Shaftesbury Ferry in Peace River will be closed to traffic until further notice. The ferry was dry docked today to allow Alberta Transportation staff and Transport Canada officials to assess necessary repairs to its starboard pontoon. Once repairs are scheduled, a timeline for restoring service will be announced.

The ferry, which operates daily between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., connects Highway 740 over the Peace River to Highway 684. Motorists are advised to take Highway 740 to Highway 49 as an alternate route to reach Peace River until repairs are complete.
